It seems like an yearly post..Wedding was the event a year ago. Our marriage is already a year old. Things have moved on.. we are preparing for a new addition to our family! =P
Our little one, as named "Man Tou" by me, is doing well at week 29. He is coming in February 2011. Things started quite shakily for us.. At week 11, we opted for the DOwn's syndrome scan. Thought that WZNN and I are so young, nothing will go wrong. But the scan suggested WZXMT ( Wen Zai Xiao Man Tou) is at higher risk of DS. Apparently he has thicker neck skin fold than norm. That was bad news and I couldn't rest for quite some time. We went to see a private doc at Gleneagles and was told to go for amniocentesis too. So, off we went. That morning was all panic and anxiety as I was told that there will no be any anesthetic, the doc will locate position of amniotic fluid and after cleaning with iodine, the needle will go in......
The needle was thicker than normal, very much like those used during blood donation, just longer, about 15 to 20 cm.
I didn't feel any pain.. just a disgusting feeling when he pull the needle out. Amniotic fluid is a yellowish solution. I didn't dare to exert myself for the next two weeks, so worried that the hole will start leaking. The risk of miscarriage with amniocentesis is about 1%, low but still a risk.
Three weeks of sleepless nights.. no phone call from KKH... GOOD! No calls means good news, each time a unidentified number calls, I panic. A month later, on the next visit, through the scan, we see man tou.. a BOY! WZNN was excited and asked to see his pp.. haha... it looks like a ltittle corn.
The genetic report states that he is well with 46 chromosomes, XY.
Appetite has been good, in fact extremely good since day one. No sign of morning sickness except for occasional nauseousness, headaches and slight cramp when I am exhausted. Constipation is my nemesis and the biggest struggle of all.
No more squatting to do business in toilet after 5th month.. tummy has grown to impede movements like tucking knees to the chest.
Taekwondo has to stop and no more jumping around. Weight increase is tremendous.
Today at seventh month, I am a gigantic 69Kg preggie. OMG.. that's 13kg above my pre-pregnant state.
Yesterday's visit has confirmed that WZXMT is growing well at a normal rate, good weight of 1.2 - 1.5kg at week 29. Thus... it means that..... the weight is ON ME! Oh man.... how to lose the weight??!!
Anyway, we have decided to get Dr Edwin Thia to deliver WZXMT. He seems to be nice and patient dr, someoone else on the forum say so too... Hope that he will be available when WZXMT is ready to come bursting through his amniotic sac.
another 11 weeks and I will be a mommy... there is still a number of things to settle like sleeping place for WZXMT, the care for him after 4 months of my maternity. I have already ordered the confinement food, so food wise is settled for myself. For WZXMT, i hope to breast feed him and 4 months later, put him on brown rice milk once a day. But which milk formula to choose is a headache and which brand of diapers?
Slowly la... still got 11 weeks to think. LOL!
Time to get back to lesson plans for CD.. due tomorrow and I am not anywhere near the end... =P
